Recommended Image Dimensions for Each Social Platform

The suggestions provided here are tailored for sharing images specifically through your Postglance account. Keep in mind that when posting via Postglance, the handling of images may differ from the native posting options on each social media platform.

Image Requirements, Formats, and Automatic Resizing

When uploading images to Postglance, files should be no larger than 10MB. Supported formats include JPG, PNG, and HEIC, with GIFs available for use on X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Mastodon, and Pinterest. Note that TikTok only accepts video formats.

It’s important to remember that each platform has its own image size limitations, which might differ from the limits imposed by native uploads. If your image is under 10MB but exceeds the platform's specific size restriction, Postglance will resize it while preserving the original aspect ratio.

Once you’ve uploaded your images, you can adjust their dimensions within the Postglance composer by following this guide: Editing Your Images in Postglance.

Saving Your Files and Ensuring Best Image Quality

When scheduling posts through Postglance, your images are processed by API services that might interpret files differently than direct uploads to social networks. To minimise issues such as distortion or colour variations, consider these recommendations:

  • Save your images in PNG format instead of JPG or other types.
  • Avoid transparent backgrounds to prevent distortion.
  • Use the sRGB colour mode, which is compatible with most browsers and social platforms. Other modes like AdobeRGB/CMYK may lead to colour discrepancies upon publication.
  • Steer clear of excessively large dimensions, as resizing by Postglance or the platform could negatively affect quality.
